Anyone who knows me knows that I am not one to rant or complain, but I have been noticing a recent influx of people looking for those “special deals” or those all inclusive packages that give them everything that they need in one location for a cheap price.
When planning for your wedding there are some things you should realize. The first thing is that there are a million and a half companies out there all trying to get your business by offering “special discounts” or offers. The most of them are able to do these “special discounts” because they are not upfront with what you are getting and it is all usually written in the fine print, so you don’t realize it until it is too late.
For the one stop shop locations that offer you everything under the sun for one “low low price” please understand that these places thrive on people’s ignorance with weddings. They are usually pretty good with one aspect of the wedding like DJing or decorating but usually drop the ball with the rest of the aspects. They usually hire random people with little or no skill to take care of the photography & video or other aspects and pay them less than half of what they are charging you in order for them to profit largely.
For the factory photo & video locations that give you albums, photographers and videographers for cheaper than any other location, they are able to do this because they hire random people from craigslist or off the general web who have little to no training so they don’t have to pay them much and they also bank on doing quantity over quality. These places do over hundreds of weddings in a year, they have little to no connection with any of their clients and could care less about making their day or their memories special for the clients. They falsely advertise good reviews in order to lure in potential clients and have in their contracts in small fine print that nobody is allowed to write a bad review about them. The majority of them use old or out dated equipment and spend little to no money on updating anything.
Photography & videography is an artistic skill that is worked on for many many years. Artistic photographers constantly strive to better themselves and their skills in order to provide each client with a completely unique experience. We spend thousands upon thousands of dollars updating our equipment and going to classes and seminars in order for us to become better. Yes, we cost more than your factory photography companies, but you are also getting a more upfront approach and completely artistic style that is centralized around your personality.
At the end of the day, it is your wedding. It is the one day that you have that can not be repeated. It is up to you if you want to remember it wonderfully or if you want to cut costs for the bare minimum.
